Lean Manufacturing
Lean Manufacturing techniques
are derived from the Toyota Production System. The principles
are Elimination of Waste, Flow Manufacturing, Visual Control,
5S Implementation, Improvement of Processes / Operations, Balance
/ Synchronize Flow, Improvement of Setup and Reduction of Breakdowns
and Defects.
Implementation of Lean Manufacturing concepts results in work
centers or assembly lines that are capable of building multiple
products. The work centers will be able to quickly switch back
and forth between products to provide the flexibility to produce
the mix of products required for orders on a given day.
The techniques allow a business to operate almost inventory free
by building defect-free, custom products with little or no lead
time.
